During the week, the units of the State Emergency Service eliminated more than 120 fires and rescued about 750 people

This was reported by the spokesman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Khorunzhyi today, October 18, during a briefing at the Military Media Center on the work of the State Emergency Service on the elimination of the consequences of Russian terrorist attacks on critical infrastructure facilities.

According to Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, between October 7 and 18, Russia carried out about 190 massive strikes with missiles, kamikaze drones and artillery on 16 regions and the city of Kiev.

“The largest number of strikes on October 10, 11, 17 and 18 were carried out in the Kiev region and the city of Kyiv. As a result of the massive shelling, more than 70 Ukrainians were killed and more than 240 people were injured. More than 380 objects were damaged: critical infrastructure objects, in particular, energy facilities, and many civilian objects, in particular, more than 140 private residential buildings, apartment buildings were hit,” the spokesman of the State Emergency Service said.


He also noted that in the period from October 7 to 18, as a result of shelling of energy facilities, about 4 thousand settlements in 11 regions were de-energized. Currently, according to the Ministry of Energy, 1162 settlements remain de-energized.

In the past day alone, according to Oleksandr Khorunzho, 26 attacks were recorded in 7 regions, both rocket attacks and shelling using so-called kamikaze drones. As a result of these shelling, four people were killed and five others were wounded during the day. 14 facilities were damaged, of which five were infrastructure facilities.

Separately, the spokesman of the State Emergency Service stopped on the morning events in Kyiv on October 18: “As a result of the enemy intrusion on the territory of the infrastructure object, a fire occurred, for the elimination of which the units of the State Emergency Service moved to the site. At 10:41 a.m., the fire was localized on an area of 1400 square meters. and was eliminated literally within an hour. One dead person was found at the scene, two people were injured.”

The Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Center is involved to analyze the debris: 14 people and 2 units of equipment. In total, 116 rescuers and 23 units of the State Emergency Service were involved to eliminate the consequences of shelling of this infrastructure facility. Currently, the analysis of the blockages is ongoing.

Oleksandr Khorunzhyi also reported that during the period from October 7 to 18, the units of the State Emergency Service carried out more than 2200 visits, in which emergency services of energy, gas and water supply, utilities and volunteers were actively involved. More than 120 fires were eliminated, about 750 people were rescued. Assistance was provided to power engineers in unloading transformers with the use of engineering equipment of the State Emergency Service in certain regions. Currently, 27 SNS generators are working to provide energy to critical infrastructure facilities, in particular, social facilities.

“All measures to eliminate the consequences of shelling and the sustainable functioning of critical infrastructure facilities are carried out by the State Emergency Service in close cooperation with other components of the Security and Defense Sector,” the spokesman of the State Emergency Service summed up.
