| The material deals with events in Izyum district of Kharkiv region in June 2022. That day, the couple went to Bakhmut to help their elderly parents leave the city. However, they chose the wrong road and were near the front line, where Russian troops stood. The car came under enemy fire. |

| Ukrainian servicemen, who were nearby, monitored the situation with the help of a drone, which later allowed investigators to establish the full circumstances of the crime committed by the Russian military. The footage shows the couple leaving their car and trying to escape, but comes under repeated fire. The man receives serious injuries. The woman is trying to stop the bleeding. |

| Our military made a risky decision — to help evacuate spouses. Soldiers of the Armed Forces charged the drone and attached to it a white sheet of paper with the words “Follow me.” In this way, the woman was given a safe route. She later said she went after the drone because it was the only way to get help for her wounded husband. |

| According to the head of the investigative department of the Kharkiv police, Sergey Bolvinov, in addition to the recordings made by the drone, the investigation included evidence collected by the cyber police, which monitored the soldier's social media accounts and phone calls. In one of the conversations, he told his wife that he “killed a man today” by firing at a car from his Soviet-era BMP. During the day, during a call to a friend, the man repeatedly confessed to killing the man and said that he did not care. |
| Subsequently, the investigators of the SU GUNP in the Kharkiv region started a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. After the de-occupation, the police inspected the scene, seized all material evidence and trace information. Predetermined the location of the BMP from which the car was fired upon. Removed 10 shells from large-caliber weapons. Interviewed victims and witnesses of the incident. All evidence is included in criminal proceedings. Now all the necessary forensic examinations are being carried out. |
| As of today, the police have collected irrefutable evidence of the guilt of this Russian military. The offender was informed of the suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. |
