Ukrainian rescuers in Slovenia have cleared and widened more than a kilometer of the Savinja river
Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continue to assist Slovenia in the elimination of the effects of the floods.
Thus, since the beginning of the works, about 1400 meters of river bed have been cleared and expanded, more than 18,500 cubic meters of soil, stone and silt have been moved. Also, 210 meters of dam are equipped and more than 900 meters of shore are fortified.
As is known, due to heavy rains, the north, northwest and part of central Slovenia were covered by floods, as a result of which there are fatalities. In the country, houses and bridges were destroyed, the damage is estimated at about 500 million euros.
The country's authorities called the current floods the worst natural disaster in 30 years.
In turn, the Government of Slovenia has appealed for international assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and the Euro-Atlantic Coordination Centre for the Response to Natural Disasters and Disasters. As part of this assistance, Ukrainian rescuers were sent to the country, helping to eliminate the effects of the flood.
