Ukrainian national team won 34 medals at the “Games of the Invincibles 2023”
The Ukrainian national team completed performances at the Invincible-2023 Games, which were held on September 9-16 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The team was represented by the largest composition in its history: 25 participants, including 3 servicemen of the National Guard.
Ukrainians competed in nine sports: athletics, powerlifting, rowing on simulators, swimming, archery, cycling, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and table tennis. In addition, a number of Ukrainian participants also performed in rugby on trolleys: as part of a united team, which included soldiers from different countries.
Despite the fact that the main goal of the Invincible Games is not to win medals, but to rehabilitate wounded military and veterans, during the seven days of competition, awards were played among the participants for the highest results in different categories, depending on the nature of injuries or injuries. At this tournament Ukraine won 34 medals: 12 gold, 14 silver and 8 bronze.
Veteran of the National Guard of Ukraine Volodymyr Tovkis won “gold” in classical archery, rowing on simulators (endurance, IR3 + sprint, IR3) and “bronze” in discus throwing. At the same time, Vitaliy Borodavka, a national guard, was also awarded a bronze medal: in the 100 meters race in the IT7 open class among men.
The Games of the Invincible in Ukraine are the largest veterans competitions in adaptive sports, designed to create new opportunities for wounded and injured Ukrainian veterans and servicemen, supporting them on the path to physical recovery, psychological rehabilitation and social integration.
