Ukraine took part in the meeting of Directors-General within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism

On May 15 and 16, the 50th meeting of the Directors-General within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism was held in Stockholm, which was attended by the leadership of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“We are strong when we are united. Ukraine's accession to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism is integration into the European security space. We are open to cooperation. I thank you for your support! “, - said the Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Sergey Kruk.

“I am glad to welcome Ukrainian rescuers to our structure. I am pleased to hear from my colleagues about our intention to continue to provide unwavering support to Ukraine, who belong to the European family,” said the Head of the Directorate General of the European Commission for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) Matzey Popovski.

During the meeting, participants discussed the issues of strengthening Europe's resilience and adapting the Mechanism to respond to today's emergencies, as well as preparing for the fire and danger period 2023.

The Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union is the world's largest system of coordinated international assistance in emergency situations. It includes the countries of the European Union and 9 member states (Norway, Iceland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine).
