Postage stamps in honor of the anniversary of the de-occupation of Slobozhanshchyna were extinguished in Kharkiv

Postage stamps, envelopes and postcards dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Balakliya, Kupyansk and Izyum from the invaders were extinguished on September 14 at Svoboda Square in the center of Kharkiv.

General Director of “Ukrposhta” Igor Smilyansky together with the head of the region Oleg Synegubov presented the postal block “Cities of Heroes. Kharkivshchyna”.

“I would like to thank Ukrposhta for starting such an initiative. This is the story of our heroes, the military, who really at the beginning restrained the enemy in Kharkiv region. And then they brilliantly liberated almost the entire territory of our region. Of course, we remember those moments of raising flags on the liberated Ukrainian territory and it is very important that this story be recorded, so that the whole of Europe sees the success of our heroes,” said Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv OVA.

The National Guards of the 1st Rifle Battalion of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade also took part in the redemption of the stamps, who liberated the Kharkiv region during the autumn counteroffensive and raised the Ukrainian troops over the liberated Izyum.

“Slobozhansky counteroffensive began with the liberation of Balakliya, which is reflected on one of the postage stamps, at that time this city was an important strategic hub and contributed to the further de-occupation of Kupyansk and Izyum, during the liberation of which, on the pipe of the instrument-making plant 150 meters high, we approach they raised the flag of Ukraine,” said the officer of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade with the call sign Bur.

General Director of “Ukrposhta” Igor Smilyansky noted that the sketches of the postal issue were developed by the Ukrainian creative agency, the circulation of the postal block is 75 thousand copies. “Cities of Heroes” is one of the most successful and beloved brands among the population.

Also on the postage stamp were issued an envelope “First Day” and 4 artistic postcards, one of which depicts a soldier of the 3rd operational brigade “Spartan” Maxim Balut, who shot down a Russian supersonic attack aircraft Su-25 in the early days of the war. Later, the National Guard fighters detained the pilot of this aircraft.

“National guards of the Spartan brigade from the first days of the war defended Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. Participated in Slobozhansky counteroffensive and liberated settlements of Kharkiv region. Currently, servicemen are performing combat tasks in the Zaporizhzhya direction, including Maxim Baluta, thanks to whose accurate shot on March 6, 2022, the first enemy Su-25 aircraft was shot down, which posed a threat to the life and health of our citizens. I want to thank all those involved in this event, because with such events we enter into the history of the exploits of our defenders and defenders,” said Acting First Deputy Commander of the Spartan Brigade — Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Major.
