The groups include juvenile police officers, investigators and psychologists. Such groups worked in Kiev, Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Currently, the police are working on the de-occupied territories of Kharkiv and Kherson region. This was announced today, November 16, by the Deputy Head of the Department of Juvenile Prevention of the National Police of Ukraine Yaroslav Shanko during a briefing in the “Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform”.

He noted that in the conditions of martial law, the issue of safety and protection of children has gained particular relevance.

“Deliberate killings of civilians, in particular children, sexual violence, illegal deportation or forced displacement, are far from a complete list of criminal acts of Russian invaders against the population of Ukraine, including children,” Yaroslav Shanko said.

He added that as a result of hostilities 431 children were killed and 835 were wounded. In addition, 11129 Ukrainian children were illegally deported to the territory of the Russian Federation, 103 of them returned. These data are inconclusive, as active hostilities continue and partially the territory of the state is temporarily occupied.

The Deputy Head of Juvenile Prevention stressed that mobile groups have been created and operate in the department to identify and document the facts of criminal offenses against children. They include juvenile police officers, investigators and psychologists. Such groups worked in the liberated territories of Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Currently, police are documenting crimes against minors in the de-occupied territories of Kharkiv and Kherson region.

Work is also underway to locate children who have gone missing or contact with whom has been lost. Thus, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian military on the territory of Ukraine, 7,704 appeals have been received to the National Police about the missing of 7835 children. Already 7555 children are wanted, the search for 280 minors continues.

“Most often, parents and relatives report a lack of communication with their children. Therefore, in order to activate the search for minors, a chat - bot “Search for children” @poshukditei_bot has been introduced in the messenger - “Telegram”. Its main task is to simplify the procedure for submitting information about a missing child or missing contact to the police. The specified chatbot received 151 messages regarding the search for 130 children, 87 children have already been sought,” Yaroslav Shanko said.

In addition, he added that during the year, since the beginning of the war, juvenile police officers have been constantly conducting activities with children and parents regarding mine safety, an algorithm of actions in case of detection of explosive devices or similar objects.
