Today, at a working meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of NPU and higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, the state of the course of the admission campaign, the problems of educational activities and the issue of ordering the staffs of higher education institutions in the conditions of martial law were discussed.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kateryna Pavlichenko said that a productive meeting was held the day before, which concerned the organization of the work of the relocated higher education institutions of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. It was about establishing a full-fledged educational process of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko and Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, where the recruitment of cadets and students continues.

“Yesterday we had a very effective meeting on relocated universities, we have common achievements. I would like to note that the issues raised in our today's working meeting are no less relevant. It is important for me to hear and understand what with the issues regarding the organization of a safe environment of the educational process. This is the shelter and control of personnel during the announcement of an air alarm. After all, non-compliance with simple rules entails quite negative consequences,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Separately, Kateryna Pavlichenko drew attention to the work of the personnel of universities during the entrance campaign, namely the prevention of manifestations of corruption. In order to resolve this issue, Homeland Security staff will be involved in the work of the admissions committees this year.

According to the First Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine Ruslan Yatskevich, in order to combat corruption manifestations, internal security officers will be included in 67 commissions:

“Although the main task is to provide assistance and ensure the high-quality selection of applicants to higher education institutions, the employees of the FIB will also be aimed at detecting corruption manifestations and violations during the admission campaign. Since this year, in connection with the introduction of martial law, the entrance campaign is carried out according to a simplified procedure. This is a forced step by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but it can be used by university officials to their advantage. The DVB already receives a number of information from different regions and we are working on them. We will immediately report on such facts to the management of the relevant department and the Minister of Internal Affairs. That is, I emphasize that the reaction to such manifestations will be immediate and harsh.”

According to the director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Inna Yashchuk, there are 10 days left before the start of entrance tests. This year there was an increased number of applications of applicants - more than 10 thousand for 3 thousand places from the state order. For comparison, 7 thousand applications were received last year, and in 2020 - 6.5 thousand applications. In addition, a positive gender component is noticeable, when out of a total of 52% of applications are made by girls.

“Today is 163 days of the war, surely no one could predict how and what will happen, what challenges we will have every day, what to do with cadets and teachers, but the leadership of educational institutions took responsibility and did so as not to let down the ministry and its teams. However, we need to understand what challenges await us today and tomorrow, how to conduct the entrance campaign, prepare for the heating season, etc. So far, we are succeeding, because together we do one thing, and together we are a great force,” said Inna Yashchuk.

“Since we started an active recruitment campaign, today we have such indicators and the number of people willing to study in educational institutions in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, we have to work even more actively and efficiently so that the number of applicants grows every year,” concluded Kateryna Pavlichenko.
