The Ministry of Internal Affairs identified more than 232 thousand war criminals and traitors
Law enforcement officers pay special attention to collecting information about all Russians who entered the territory of Ukraine with weapons. For this purpose, the National Police of Ukraine has created an information base for accounting of all Russian war criminals, representatives of illegal armed formations and collaborators. All identified persons undergo criminal proceedings.
Thus, the interdepartmental information subsystem “War Criminal” combines in one information space information about war criminals identified during the Russian military aggression. In addition to the National Police of Ukraine, access to the subsystem for filling and exchanging information is provided by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, the State Border Service of Ukraine, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, the National Penitentiary Service of Ukraine anti-corruption bureau of Ukraine, Bureau of economic security of Ukraine.
As the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko noted earlier, when law enforcement officers identify a Russian or a citizen of Ukraine who is fighting against Ukraine on the side of the so-called DNR/LPR, it is possible to prove their involvement in a particular crime.
“Its data is entered into the information subsystem. We share this information with our partners through Europol channels. They then decide for themselves whether to close these citizens access to their countries, since these are potential terrorists, - the Deputy Minister stressed. - Not only our law enforcement officers are watching war criminals. After all, thanks to cooperation with Europol, when such persons come to other countries as tourists, there is a completely different attitude towards them. They pay attention to them, watch what they do in the country of residence and with whom they meet. That is, it is an additional tool that we provide to the law enforcement agencies of our international partners in order to have another opportunity to show every thief that he crossed the borders of Ukraine with a weapon will never be forgotten.
As of August 3, 2018, information about 232,131 persons was entered into the information subsystem “War Criminal”, of which about:
- 197,857 servicemen of the Russian occupation forces;
- 3,522 representatives of illegal armed groups and private military companies;
- 3,267 collaborators and traitors of Ukraine;
- 401 representatives of the military-political leadership of the aggressor country.
Important in the functioning of the information subsystem is that it makes it possible to accumulate and automate access to information about war criminals, improve the quality of information analysis with the capabilities of instant output and processing of data according to the entered search details, and to take joint actions by law enforcement agencies to detect and investigate Crimes.
