In medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the wounded begin to provide psychological assistance before they recover physically, - Alyona Matveeva
Psychological rehabilitation of wounded fighters is no less important than physical, so the medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are unique in that here the fighters are provided with comprehensive assistance. The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Alyona Matveeva stated about this on the TV marathon “United News”.
“Psychological rehabilitation of combatants wounded during combat operations is no less important than physical. The institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are unique in that they begin to provide psychological assistance not when the patient has already fully recovered, all his wounds have healed, but also during treatment. In our institutions there are doctors and psychologists who provide such assistance. An integrated approach is applied. Ordinary Ukrainians are also involved in the psychological rehabilitation of the soldiers, because the injured person is important to support and he should feel needed not only on the battlefield. In particular, the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched the project “Honor the Hero”, in which Ukrainians can thank the heroes for their exploits,” said Alyona Matveeva.
In addition, according to the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, treatment and rehabilitation of police officers, national guards, border guards injured during hostilities is free of charge.
In addition, Alyona Matveeva stressed that the mechanism for sending the wounded in the fighting for treatment outside Ukraine has already been worked out.
“Treatment and rehabilitation is carried out at the expense of the receiving party. Most often they are sent for treatment and rehabilitation to Lithuania, Germany, Denmark, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway. The issue of referral for rehabilitation to Israel is being worked out. As of July 13, 136 people were sent for treatment and rehabilitation outside Ukraine, including prosthetics, and documents for 244 people were prepared. Most often they are referred for treatment with mine-blast injuries, traumatic amputations of limbs, contusions, bullet wounds and traumatic injuries of the peripheral nervous system,” added Alyona Matveeva.
