Kropyvnytskyi will be tried for extorting a “lawman” nicknamed “Armen Hohol”
The accused, using criminal influence, created a criminal organization and established extortion of funds on the territory of the detention center.
As established by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, the man, having the status of “lawman” in the criminal world and influence in the criminal environment, in 2018 appointed a trusted person to the position of the so-called “spy” in the investigative detention center of Moscow. Kropyvnytskyi.
The latter, on behalf of the accused, together with several accomplices, carried out tasks to extort funds from the detainees of the detention center and citizens at large. During the “conversations”, the men expressed threats to use violence against the victims themselves and their relatives. In 2020, the indictment against the “watchman” and the executors was sent to court. Until the summer of 2022 he was hidden from the investigation, because he was a suspect under Part 1 of Art. 255 (creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it), part 3 of Article 255-1 (establishment or dissemination of criminal influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In June 2022, Armen Hohol was detained by operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, and the case regarding the establishment of criminal influence and the creation of a criminal organization was transferred to the court.
In September, “people in law” were informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 28, Part 4 of Article 189 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The operatives together with the investigators of the regional police documented four facts of extortion of funds by the participants of the criminal organization.
On November 23, the indictment against extortion under the procedural leadership of the Kropyvnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office was sent to court.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
