In Kryvyi Rih, the service dog Jack was awarded the Medal “For Dedicated Service”
The German Shepherd Jack has been serving in the kennel platoon since 2016 and is constantly involved in the performance of tasks as intended.
Dog guard Eugene and Jack met in 2017. The one and a half year old German Shepherd and a dog breeder were trained together and received the corresponding certificates. Jack is a search dog and specializes in finding missing people. Together with Eugene Jack, he conducted several rotations in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation and the Joint Forces Operation.
“During rotations, they served at checkpoints and mobile checkpoints, provided security, detained people who were wanted,” says the guard.
Jack is also involved in the implementation of tasks to ensure the legal regime of martial law.
“When you constantly engage with a dog from an early age, you learn his character and habits, you understand what he knows how to do as he feels. The dog learns all his life and you learn with him — you learn something new, you master new methods of training. There should be an individual approach to each dog. It is then that the dog handler and the service dog work in a coordinated and efficient way,” says the dog handler.
While on patrol, military uniforms detain offenders who often carry prohibited items or narcotic substances with them.
