The director of a construction company that seized almost 3 million hryvnias from the state budget of the capital will be tried in Kiev
The woman entered into an agreement with the municipal enterprise KCDA to carry out works on the overhaul of the stadium in Darnytskyi district, but she overestimated the cost and volume of the construction work performed. Currently, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is completed - the offender faces up to 12 years in prison.
In September 2023, investigators and operatives of the Darnytsky Department of the Kyiv Police under the procedural guidance of the Darnytsky District Prosecutor's Office exposed the director of one of the utilities in seizing other people's property by abuse of official position.
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers established that the director of the construction company concluded an agreement with the municipal enterprise “Sports Complex” of the Kyiv City State Administration on the overhaul of the stadium with athletics and sports grounds. However, according to the conclusions of the forensic and economic examination, the official overstated the cost and volume of the completed construction works and illegally seized 2,915,438 hryvnias from the local budget of Kyiv.
The defendant was informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — appropriation, squandering of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.
Police have now gathered enough evidence of the woman's criminal activity and completed a pre-trial investigation. The indictment against the suspect is sent to the court for consideration of the case on the merits. The offender faces imprisonment for up to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property.
