In Kyiv, law enforcement officers exposed two arms dealers
The police seized physical evidence of the criminal activities of the defendants - 15 units of weapons, more than 6,000 rounds of various calibers, money and forms with seals giving the right to carry firearms. For the crime, men face up to seven years in prison.
Investigators of the Desnyansk Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Desnyansk District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Kyiv and the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine in the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives, documented the illegal activities of two men. These are natives of Kyiv region, 1974 and 1996 years of birth.
The police found that the two men decided to get rich from the illegal sale of weapons, calling themselves law enforcement officers. In the course of documenting the crime, police officers seized 13 AK-74 assault rifles and about 3,000 rounds of ammunition from the perpetrators, which they tried to sell for 20 thousand US dollars. At the residence of the 48-year-old defendant, investigators found two more units of weapons and about 3,000 rounds of various markings.
In addition, fictitious forms with seals giving the right to carry firearms and money were discovered. The seized law enforcement officers were sent to conduct an expert study. The vehicles in which the intruders moved and that were used as means of committing criminal offenses were also seized.
Investigators of the Desnya Police Department, in procedural agreement with the district prosecutor's office, informed the defendants about the suspicion of illegal handling of weapons and ammunition. They face up to seven years in prison.
Currently, the police are establishing other persons who may be involved in the activities of the criminal group, and the channel for the supply of weapons and ammunition.
