Military ammunition, pickups and ambulances brought in as humanitarian aid were sold to NGOs and volunteers.

Police continue to carry out measures to block criminal schemes and expose individuals who are trying to make money from the war. According to their results, the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Ivano-Frankivsk region and the investigators of the Ivano-Frankivsk district police department identified the participants of the criminal group and documented the entire criminal “chain” of their activities.

The organizer was the head of the charity organization. In order to receive humanitarian assistance free of charge from donors, those involved posted messages on social networks. The humanitarian cargo received and imported under the preferential regime for the needs of the military and other citizens affected by armed aggression was sold.

The defendants implemented humanitarian aid through outlets and separately created Internet pages on social networks. The assortment includes military ammunition, cars and other property. Among the buyers are non-governmental organizations and volunteers, who in turn handed them over to the military.

During the investigation, the police documented the facts of the sale of military ammunition, a pickup truck and a special vehicle “ambulance” for more than 500,000 hryvnias. The “earnings” of the merchants were distributed among themselves. In addition, it was established that according to the established “scheme” they imported and registered with forged documents more than 10 cars.

On August 25, operatives and investigators with the support of KORD special officers detained the organizer and one of the members of the criminal group during the sale of an “ambulance” car for 6000 euros and 1200 US dollars.

As a result of the searches, 4,500 euros and 2,800 US dollars were seized, part of which was obtained from the sale of humanitarian aid, 9 cars, registration documents for vehicles, cartridges.

At present, the organizer and accomplices have been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of declaring suspicions and choosing preventive measures for them is resolved. After the procedural measures, legal qualification will be given to the actions of other participants in the criminal group.

Exposure measures were carried out jointly with the USBU in Ivano-Frankivsk region under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk District Prosecutor's Office.

For illegal use for profit of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or gratuitous assistance, offenders may face imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years and confiscation of property.
