In the GSC, the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained which combinations of the letters Z and V on license plates are prohibited
There is also a list of grounds for refusing to manufacture a set of individual license plates. Now, according to the law, the letters “Z” and “V” fall under the ban, the use of which in the individual license plate has a hint of the symbolism of the occupiers.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has banned the ordering and production of individual license plates that contain symbols associated with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, totalitarian regimes. There is no mention of state registration plates for electric vehicles.
On April 21, 2023, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 367 amended the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1081 “On the introduction of license plates of vehicles manufactured by individual orders of their owners”.
Now, according to the law, the letters “Z” and “V” fall under the ban. That is, the use of these letters separately, as well as in words written in Cyrillic instead of “Z”, “C”, “B”, “F”. This prohibition also applies to inscriptions and images, symbols of the communist totalitarian regime, the national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regime.
Ukrainian license plates cannot bear the emblem of the bodies of the terrorist state and the armed forces of Russia: ground troops, air and space forces, navy, strategic missile forces, etc.
There is also a list of grounds for refusing to manufacture a set of individual license plates. Some of them are refusal to manufacture an individual sign due to the presence of the full or abbreviated name of the state authority, the image of state symbols of Ukraine and other countries or international organizations. The application of an inscription of irregular origin or discriminatory character on linguistic, national, religious and racial grounds will also be refused.
