The State Emergency Service operates 19 mechanized demining machines, robotic complexes and drones
Specialists of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine during the implementation of tasks on humanitarian demining of de-occupied territories already use 19 mechanized demining machines, robotic systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and also attract mine-search dogs.
This was stated by the Deputy Director of the Emergency Response Department of the State Emergency Situations of Ukraine Oleg Bondar.
“At the moment, 19 mechanized demining machines are equipped with pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service, which perform tasks in the most priority areas. In particular, these are tasks related to the restoration of power lines in de-occupied territories. Cars have surveyed more than 400 hectares of territory — a small figure, but the machines have been used exclusively since the beginning of this year,” he said.
These machines were obtained from the governments of Canada, Switzerland, Estonia and the Howard Buffett Foundation and United24. In the near future, the SNS expects to deliver 18 more cars. At the same time, the total need for such equipment is 41 units.
For reconnaissance of territories, including water areas, and neutralizing the most dangerous mines and munitions detected, the SNS sappers use land, surface and underwater robotic complexes provided by international partners.
Also, a variety of drones are used to survey the territories. In addition, mine-search dogs are involved in carrying out humanitarian demining, for example, in the Kharkiv region.
At the same time, Oleg Bondar stressed that Ukraine is also establishing its own production of equipment necessary for mining, its certification processes are ongoing. The first samples of such machines have already been transferred to the units of the State Emergency Service.
