A criminal group that recruited socially vulnerable persons and illegally detained them was exposed in Dnipro
The defendants promised the victims decent work with accommodation, after which they were placed in “rehabilitation centers” and held against their will.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that the criminal group consisted of four citizens of Donetsk region. They, using the vulnerable state of citizens, recruited them to rehabilitation centers located in Dnipro. After that, the victims were forced to work hard and free of charge.
On August 15, the police conducted 10 searches at the addresses of the centers, at the place of residence and in the cars of the defendants, as well as at the place of residence of the “employers”.
During the investigative measures, law enforcement officers seized things confirming the activities of the criminal group. From the “labor camps” the police released 25 citizens. Investigative measures are carried out with them.
At the moment, one of the defendants has already been reported on suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 149 (trafficking in human beings) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court selected him a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest for 60 days.
