A 41-year-old policeman was killed during an enemy rocket attack on Odessa. He was originally from Dnipro, where his family and friends live. Today, March 17, the Head of the National Police Ivan Vyhivsky, the Deputy Chairman of the National Police Oleksandr Fatsevich, the commander of the “Lut” brigade Alexander Netrebko, the head of the GUNP, colleagues, friends and combat comrades of the commander came to support their relatives and pay their last respects to their colleague and friend.
The head of the National Police mentioned Oleksandr Gostishchev as a determined, courageous and just man:
- He always led people behind him. Dnipro, Lviv region, Odessa region, settlements of frontline areas — here he lived, worked, defended, here he is known and loved. Unfortunately, war takes away the best.
Ivan Vyhivsky thanked the mother of the deceased, who raised the real Hero, expressed sympathy and support to her, which the whole police family is ready to provide in the future.
The lieutenant colonel of the police began his combat path in 2014 as a fighter of the Dnipro-1 battalion. He became a company commander, took part in the battles in Donetsk region. Thanks to the successful work of the battalion, it was then possible to withdraw the soldiers of the Armed Forces from the encirclement in Ilovaisk.
In 2015, Alexander Gostishchev heads one of the police departments, and in 2017 he was appointed head of the patrol police department of the Luhansk region. Two years later he holds the position of head of the patrol police department in the Odessa region.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the policeman was appointed commander of the consolidated battalion of the police of the Odessa region “Tsunami”. Under his command, the fighters took part in defensive and offensive operations in the Kherson direction, liberated the village of Davyvyd Brid and the city. Kherson.
In 2023, the Tsunami Assault Regiment was created on the basis of the battalion, which became part of the combined assault brigade of the National Police “Fury”. The soldiers of the regiment together with units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces took part in the liberation of the village. Klishchivka, in the Bakhmut direction, as well as in the fighting near Mayorsk, Kurdyumovka and Bohdanivka.
Alexander was a model of courage and courage. His colleagues respected and loved him, and he listened and appreciated each of his fighters, always went first and led behind him. So it will remain in our memory forever.
