Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko said that Ukraine is one of the most replaced countries in the world. We are talking about more than 174 thousand square kilometers.

According to Igor Klymenko, a third of the territories of Ukraine are potentially mined, and they are dangerous to the lives of citizens. The enemy leaves behind square kilometers of minefields, but it will be possible to calculate the exact figures only after the complete de-occupation of the territories of Ukraine.

“We understand that these are potentially mined areas and people will not be able to live there safely. I am not talking about residential buildings, private houses and administrative buildings, which we demoted when we knocked out the enemy from the Kherson region. How many mines arrive every day on the same coast of the Kherson region - we know, every day the corresponding data is received. And these areas will need to be re-examined. That is, once we exchanged, something flew there again, it will be necessary to bargain again,” the Minister of Internal Affairs said.

Igor Klymenko noted that the process of demining is long enough, and Ukraine cannot do without the help of international partners in this matter:

“We are already working with our international partners who provide us with remote machines for demining fields, which we are doing successfully now. By the end of the year, we expect about 35 such cars, and this is only for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Plus, there is also the Cabinet of Ministers, the Government is conducting relevant negotiations on the provision of additional such transport. And our industry, I hope, will be able to provide more of these vehicles that will be used for mining this year.”

At the moment, Ukraine does not have sufficient resources for migration. Also, sappers cannot work during constant shelling from Russia:

“We understand the need to demine our vast fields, because we have to guarantee our farmers that this area has already been depopulated. But very often we read the news that somewhere along the side of the road was driving either a combine or a tractor and it blows up. There is no resource to exchange everything at once. We very often cannot do this because there is constant shelling of both the frontline territory and the border.”
