A swath of weapons and almost $6 million in cash (VIDEO)
An organized criminal group has been detained in Dnipro. The police special operation with the participation of about 100 law enforcement officers lasted two days. 16 searches were carried out, three people were detained on suspicion of arms and ammunition trafficking and money laundering.
Police officers of Dnipropetrovsk region received operational information about the involvement of a group of individuals in arms trafficking and illegal financial transactions, legalization and laundering of large amounts of income. On December 1, according to the results of a police special operation, in one of the garage cooperatives of the city, police departments of KORD blocked cars Toyota Highlander and arrested the defendants involved in these crimes.
Three Dnipro residents turned out to be accomplices: the organizer and two performers. During searches of residential premises, in garages and in cars of “businessmen”, investigators seized an arsenal of weapons, ammunition and explosives: 21 pistols, 7 machine guns, 14 rifles, 5 rifles, 10 Kalashnikov assault rifles, about 25 thousand rounds of various calibers and packaging, 36 anti-tank grenade launchers, 76 grenades, smoke checkers and other physical evidence. In addition, large amounts of money were seized from the attackers: 5.7 million dollars, almost 50 thousand euros, more than 700 thousand hryvnias, as well as five premium cars.
All members of an organized criminal group are detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They were informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28 Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal possession of weapons and ammunition), and selected preventive measures in the form of detention. Criminal proceedings have also been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
About 100 law enforcement officers of the city and the region participated in the arrest and searches, in particular employees of the Criminal Police Department of the Dnieper RUP and the Criminal Investigation Department of the GUNP, and the force support was provided by special officers of the KORD and the special purpose police regiment.
Law enforcement officers continue measures regarding the involvement in the specified criminal offense of other persons and the channel of receipt of ammunition.
