The world must know the truth about Russia's war against Ukraine - the head of the National Police
This was stated by the Head of the National Police Igor Klymenko during a speech at the European Conference of Police Chiefs (ERSS) 2022 in The Hague.
“It is important to tell the world the truth about Russia's war against Ukraine. On a daily basis, Ukrainian police officers continue to serve and protect, recording the war crimes of the occupiers, detaining collaborators and saboteurs, helping the population throughout Ukraine. And our best trained fighters have become a reliable support for the military on the front line,” said Igor Klymenko.
At the same time, he noted that with the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, the functionality of the police expanded significantly, but the police quickly adapted to the new conditions.
“We appreciate what European countries are doing for Ukrainian refugees. And cooperation with Europol in documenting Russian war crimes is extremely important for us,” said Igor Klymenko, thanking foreign colleagues for their support of Ukraine.
Also during the event, Ukrainian police discussed with foreign partners and Europol to strengthen cooperation, in particular in combating organized crime in Europe in the field of illegal arms trafficking, cybercrime, human trafficking and illegal importation of migrants, drug smuggling.
In addition, during the conference participants defined ways and procedure of interaction of units of the National Police of Ukraine with Europol and law enforcement agencies of EU member states in matters of investigation of war crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and discussed the possibilities of providing assistance to the National Police.
Within the framework of the conference, the Head of the National Police met with the Executive Director of Europol, Ms. Catherine De Boll, and held bilateral meetings with the heads of the police departments of Spain, France, Ireland, Moldova, Great Britain, Poland, Romania, the President of the Council of the European Union Czech Republic, USA (New York Police Department).
