Looking for people under the rubble and on the tracks: how dogs help rescuers
Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine actively involve search dogs during the analysis of debris after the mean and cynical attacks of Russians on residential buildings of Ukrainians. Thanks to their keen sense of smell and endurance, their help is invaluable on ruins, where there is always hope for life.
The family of Khmelnytsky rescuers live the Nebraska Labrador and the German Shepherd Jack. The first is looking for people under the rubble, the second is looking for a trail. Four-legged friends are constantly training, doing exercises in the stadium, in the training ground, as well as in practice with a trip to the rubble. Trail-finding skills are improved with a trip to the fields and forests.
“This is a hobby that has grown into a profession! And this profession is to your liking when you do your job with pleasure,” says dog expert Vladimir Shevchenko.
Service dogs are special, they do not give a voice without a command, are hardy and have an extremely keen sense of smell, and they cannot and do not know how to let down their partners who are committed to the cause.
