Creation of a criminal organization in the Odesa region: the so-called “hole in the law” and its immediate environment received suspicion
We are talking about the “villain in the law” from the sanctions list of the National Security Council nicknamed “Lavasogli-Batumsky”, his trusted person and persons with certain criminal statuses in the criminal environment. Previously, they were suspected of spreading criminal influence and participating in the “exodus”.
In February 2023, the operatives of the Department together with the Terrain Management of Strategic Investigations in the Odessa region and the detectives of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police conducted a large-scale special operation, as a result of which the “law-abiding” and his five “protégés” reported the suspicion, and two “spies”” were detained.
In the course of further investigative and operational activities, the police together with the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office collected evidence of their involvement in extortion, illegal gambling business, creation and participation in a criminal organization. According to the investigation, to control the criminal environment in the Odessa region, “Vor in the law” nicknamed “Lavasogli-Batumsky” created a criminal organization, which included criminals from his immediate environment.
At different periods, he appointed his representatives as so-called “watchmen” in the cities of Chernomorsk and Izmail, as well as in places of imprisonment. They were responsible for collecting and distributing the funds of the “criminal community”, gave “work permits” to criminal groups, “covered up” illegal business, organized criminal gatherings. At the so-called “ladders” with the participation of their leader, they resolved issues regarding the coordination of criminal activities.
On September 29-30, police officers and detectives held events to announce new suspects to seven criminals. Five former so-called “spies” at the Odessa Detention Center, behind the building in the detention center, behind the cities of Izmail and Chernomorsk are criminalized by Part 5 of Art. 255 (participation in a criminal organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the actions of three of them are additionally qualified under Part 4 of Art. 28 part 4 of article 189 (extortion) and part 3 of article 27, part 4 of article 28 part 3 of art. 203-2 (Illegal activities for the organization or conduct of gambling) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The “lawman in law” from the sanctions list of the National Security and Security Council nicknamed “Lavasogli-Batumsky” and his authorized person - the “criminal authority” - were reported in absentia about the suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
