Police officers detained a man who threw a grenade at people
The Kievan tried to kill his acquaintance and her comrade.
Operational officers with the support of KORD fighters detained the man at his place of residence, and investigators collected evidence of his guilt. For a committed crime, the offender is threatened with life imprisonment.
Yesterday evening the Kiev police received a report that there was an explosion on Miloslavskaya Street, as a result of which two people were injured. For immediate documentation and provision of medical care, investigative and operational teams of the Main and Desnyan Police Departments, medical workers, specialized services immediately went to the scene.
The head of the investigative department of the Desnyansky police department Mykola Mazurov said that law enforcement officers have started criminal proceedings for the attempted murder of two people: “A special police operation was introduced to search and detain the attacker in Kyiv. We carried out first-line investigative actions and established that the offender saw his acquaintance with his husband on the street and, out of jealousy, threw a grenade in their direction. With bodily injuries, medics hospitalized the 33-year-old victim and her 37-year-old acquaintance, and investigators removed fragments of ammunition from the crime scene.
Operational officers with the help of analysts of the capital chapter established the identity of the attacker and, with the strong support of special officers of the KORD, detained him at his place of residence in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He turned out to be a 34-year-old local resident who was not previously convicted.
“On this fact, we have initiated criminal proceedings under the second part of Article 15, paragraph 1 of the second part of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — an attempt to intentionally murder two or more persons. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from ten to fifteen years or life imprisonment. Currently, the issue of notifying the defendant of suspicion of committing a particularly serious crime is being resolved. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing,” Mykola Mazurov added.
