Today at the National Academy of Internal Affairs, training of security specialists in the educational environment began, which will later work in 16 communities across Ukraine. Training of specialists takes place within the framework of the “Safety Educator” project. It will enable communities to build environments for children free from bullying, drugs and violence. In addition, such specialists will in some way become communicators between local self-government bodies, territorial units of NPU and SNS, educational and scientific bodies, student and parent community.

“Currently, representatives of 16 territorial communities from 9 regions of Ukraine participate in the implementation of this project. So from today we are starting to prepare 17 candidates for the position of “Security Educator”, to work in 49 educational institutions, in which almost 15 thousand children study,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko.

The Deputy Minister stressed that today the topic of children's safety in the conditions of war takes on a new meaning. The project is on time like never before. It should be part of a major project — “Safe Country”.

“Today, the training of specialists of the pilot project “Safety Educator” starts on the basis of our academy. The program provides full-time and distance learning. As a result of its passage, we will issue certificates of the state model. Candidates will learn how to prevent the spread of drugs, bullying and violence, as well as psychology, monitoring the situation outside the educational institution, the basics of cooperation with the National Police and the State Emergency Service,” said the rector of the National Academy of Internal Affairs Volodymyr Cherney.

The program of the training course provides for two weeks of full-time training, in addition, there will be online classes. They will be conducted by teachers from the State Security Agency, the State Emergency Service, the National Police and the Ministry of Education system.

“The program will be full. Practitioners were involved in the development of the training plan. I am sure that you will become the powerful force for creating security in educational institutions where children study,” said the director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports Inna Yashchuk, addressing future specialists.

It is planned that the work of the “Safety Educator” will be aimed at ensuring that every child in the educational institution feels safe. The participants of the event agreed that the biggest challenges for specialists this year will be working in conditions of war and distance learning.

“Such an important issue as security cannot be solved only by the forces of the state, but requires the maximum involvement of people on the ground, in particular, and you — security specialists in the educational environment. It is in the interaction of local self-government bodies with law enforcement that the secret of our success lies,” said Igor Babich, Head of the Department of Preventive Activities of NPU.

Recall: A security educator is a civilian who will be selected and trained. And its main task is to identify and stop offenses within the educational institution, participate in preventive measures and make proposals to strengthen a safe educational environment.
