The intoxicated mother was distracted and the one-and-a-half-year-old child fell under the wheels of the truck: the police initiated two criminal proceedings
In Transcarpathia, a one-and-a-half-year-old child died as a result of an accident. The accident occurred in the village of Yasinia of Rakhiv district on the local road. 57-year-old driver of the Ural truck, a resident of the village of Chorna Tisa, hit the girl.
Law enforcement officers interviewed eyewitnesses, watched video from surveillance cameras and found out that a 32-year-old local resident was walking along this street with her one and a half year old child. When the woman was distracted, the girl went out onto the roadway part of the road. There she got under the wheels of the truck.
The child from the scene was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a local hospital. However, from her injuries, she died. The driver was investigated - the man was sober at the wheel.
In case of violation of traffic safety rules, which led to the death of the victim, the investigators entered the information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The driver was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention center.
Also, law enforcement officers investigated the mother of the dead child: 1.7 ppm of alcohol was recorded in her blood. The woman was intoxicated. Her actions in the police were qualified as a malicious failure by parents to fulfill their duties to care for the child, which caused serious consequences.
Relevant information is included in the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under the sanction of the article, the maximum penalty that threatens a woman is up to 5 years in prison.
