At the age of 22, the guy already learned what earnings are, having worked in construction in Poland. When two and a half years ago it was time to serve conscription, I decided to immediately go for a contract with the Volyn unit of the National Guard. Here he found a specialty that he really likes.
“I was interested in the UAR-10 sniper rifle, I wanted to work with it. And I was given the opportunity to choose the specialization of sniper. Passed two-month training courses, received the appropriate certificate,” says Mykola.
Training snipers is not easy, involves different types of tests. After all, sniper work is not only accurate shooting at a target, but also a lot of other skills. Among them - accurate determination of distances, understanding of ballistics, skillful camouflage and the ability to approach the target imperceptibly, work in pairs, in which the partner adjusts the shots of the shooter.
“Among other things, in the exercises we were given the task of disguising ourselves and sneaking up to the instructors for at least 80 meters,” says the guard. - The sniper must have mathematical abilities to correct the wind, accurately determine the distance. It also takes patience and endurance to wait as long as necessary until the goal is achievable.”
Currently, Nikolai serves in the unit responsible for anti-landing and anti-sabotage measures in Volyn. The father of the guard also defends the country - as part of the territorial defense forces.
