Fatal accident in Rivne region: 26 people died
Police, rescuers, forensic experts of the SME and the NDEKC are completing the inspection of the scene, identifying the dead, but the personal data of the three people have not yet been established.
It is currently known:
- the driver of the car “Mercedes-Benz Vito”, which caused the accident, performed an overtaking maneuver of another vehicle, drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a gas truck;
- the identity of the deceased driver of the minibus has not yet been established;
- at the time of the accident, 34 passengers and one driver were in the cabin of the bus “Setra”, which was headed to Poland. It turned out that another passenger had to board in the city. Brody, and the second driver — in Lviv;
- 26 people died in the accident: 24 passengers and two drivers (minibus and bus);
- 12 people were injured: 11 passengers of the bus and the driver of the gas truck;
- all passengers — aged 17 to 69 years. The youngest should turn 18 on May 12;
- all accident participants from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Khmelnytsky regions.

At the scene of the incident, special services continue to work, the road surface is being cleaned. Traffic in this area is fully restored.
In case of violation of traffic safety rules, which led to the death of several people, investigators of the investigative department began a pre-trial investigation under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
