The pseudo Viking National Guardsman serves in the 15th Slavic Regiment. Two weeks after the full-scale invasion, he and his group defended Svyatogorsk from an enemy landing.

The soldier began his military career with military service in 2013 at a difficult time for the country during the Revolution of Dignity. It was not possible for Viking to return to his native Donetsk, so he decided to sign a contract and continue his service in Kiev, later being transferred to the 15th Slavic Regiment.

The news of a full-scale invasion, as for millions of Ukrainians, came unexpectedly. There was no doubt how to act, it was necessary to send the family to a safe place and go to the service. His wife quickly gathered the children and went to her parents, and Viking himself arrived to the part.

In two weeks, the master sergeant and his group were already under Svyatogorsk in Tatianivka, where they had to meet an enemy landing and enter the first battle. The Viking group had the difficult task of holding the defenses, occupying the heights and, if necessary, ensuring the retreat of their own troops across the river. Despite constant artillery shelling and enemy attacks, they did not surrender.

“Observation posts, mortars, aviation — all means were used to defend positions. Although it was tense with the forces, everyone survived, and this could be considered a small victory,” recalls the guard.

After Svyatogorsk, the Viking battalion was in Slavyansk, where checkpoints were set up to repel the enemy's advance. The main direction of the threat went from the side of the Rostov highway through the settlements of Adamovka, Makatikh, Dovgenke and the village of Mayaki. There were Russian troops, who were actively shelling positions of Ukrainian defenders. Enemy mortars posed a constant threat, but the Guardsmen did not lose their resolve and were ready to repel any enemy attack.

Participation in the Estuary Operation and the storming of the settlement of Zarichne were the next tests for the Viking and his personnel. During one of the operations, the Russian soldiers got trapped and stayed in the house, and when they left, they forgot one of their own.

Using grenades and blowing up the house, the guards were eventually able to capture him, although he did not realize what was around.

“When we entered the house, we saw a lot of interesting things. Personal belongings, some documents. The Rashists even took their ceremonial uniform, hoping for a quick victory,” adds the guard.

The Viking family and other fighters worry about their loved ones, constantly waiting for their return and praying for their safety. This boundless support and inspiration gives strength to warriors in difficult times. The fate of Ukraine depends on their courage and thirst for peace. Among them reigns a common dream — to end this war with victory.
