Police investigators completed the exhumation at the site of the mass burial of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Liman
The police recovered the bodies of 34 Ukrainian defenders from the mass grave. Work on the exhumation of more than 120 civilians is ongoing. The police establish the circumstances of the death of each person.
The bodies of the soldiers are directed to the morgue. After identifying and establishing the causes of death, the deceased will be handed over to relatives for burial.
Police focused efforts on exhumation of civilians from a burial located next to the military grave.
In total, from September 29 until today, the police have found in the liberated settlements the bodies of 144 people who died during the occupation. Of these, 108 bodies were exhumed from spontaneous burials, the rest were found in buildings and on the streets.
85 of the dead are civilians, some of them showing signs of violent death, including shrapnel wounds.
Police carefully investigate the circumstances of the death of each person. To date, 44 DNA samples have been selected for molecular genetic examination.
Currently, the police have established 35 burials in the de-occupied territory. Within a day, the police received information about 4 more burial sites.
