Investigators of the National Police are investigating the fact of illegal mining of minerals worth more than 432 million UAH
According to preliminary conclusions of experts, more than 30.5 thousand tons of gypsum and limestone were illegally mined on the land of the Nature Reserve Fund in the Khmelnytsky region.
Investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the operational support of employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in Khmelnytsky region and under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office exposed the fact of unauthorized seizure of a land plot of nature reserve in Khmelnytsky region for species production of minerals.
Law enforcement officers established that on a plot of about five hectares, one of the enterprises of the region mined gypsum and limestone deposits. In addition, the extraction of minerals was carried out outside the special subsoil use permit and the act of granting mining waste for the development of deposits.
According to a preliminary estimate of experts, more than 30.5 thousand tons of minerals were illegally extracted from the fields, causing damage to the state in the amount of more than 432 million hryvnias.
Investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, together with law enforcement colleagues, conducted 10 sanctioned searches on the territory of the enterprise and quarry. As a result, documents confirming illegal activity were seized.
Criminal proceedings are investigated under Part 2 of Art. 197-1 Unauthorized occupation of land and unauthorized construction, Part 3 of Art. 240 (Violation of the rules of protection or use of subsoil, illegal extraction of minerals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers carry out further procedural and operational and investigative measures to identify persons who organized, established and carried out illegal mining. They face up to six years in prison.
