Investigators of the National Police announced the suspicion of the perpetrators of the murder of a policeman and an attempt on the life of a Kharkiv businessman
Police officers of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police and the Criminal Investigation Department have exposed an organized criminal group that in 2019 in the Kyiv region tried to commit a custom-made murder of the former co-owner of Kharkiv Pharmaceutical Corporation. During the commission of the crime, the businessman and his driver were injured, the guard died.
The pre-trial investigation established that in May 2019, members of the organized crime group received orders for this crime for monetary reward.
For more than half a year, members of the organized group, which included residents of Kharkiv region, carefully prepared for the crime: they monitored the businessman's office and place of residence, studied his lifestyle, traffic routes, etc. In early November 2019, a motorcyclist approached the Mercedes-Benz S600 armored car of a businessman who stopped at a traffic light near the village of Chaika on the Brest-Litovsk highway in the Kiev region and placed explosives on the roof of the car. In a few seconds, the explosives detonated, as a result of which the businessman and his driver received numerous injuries, and the policeman who provided the protection under the contract was killed.
The investigators, together with the criminal investigation agents, conducted a significant number of investigative and investigative actions over the course of three years, as a result of which they received substantial evidence of involvement in the commission of these particularly serious crimes of two residents of the city of Kharkiv. One of the suspects, after committing the crime, fled to the Russian Federation and assumed its citizenship.
Another accomplice to the execution of a murder by order is taken into custody.
Both defendants were declared suspected of committing crimes stipulated in paragraph 5 part 2 of Art. 115 (Intentional murder committed in a manner dangerous to the life of many persons), Part 2 of Art. 15, Clause 1, 5, 6, 11, 12 Part 2 of Art. 115 (Attempt to intentionally murder two or more persons, committed in a manner dangerous to the life of many persons, committed by order of a group of persons), part 2 of Art. 28,
part 1 tbsp. 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives), part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article. 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to fifteen years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The suspect, who is a citizen of the Russian Federation, is wanted.
Authorized searches were conducted at the places of residence and registration of suspects, during which additional material evidence was obtained confirming their involvement in the commission of these crimes.
