On some issues of conscription to the ranks of the State Border Guard
On February 24, 2022, Russia treacherously and bloodily launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On the same day, the President of Ukraine issued Decree No. 69/2022 “On General Mobilization”, which announced the general mobilization.
Many motivated citizens join the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine, take up arms and perform tasks to defend and repel the armed aggression of the enemy.
It should be noted that mobilization is carried out within 90 days from the date of entry into force of the Presidential Decree. During this period, all citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 who can perform military duty are subject to mobilization.
Soldiers who previously served in the ranks of border guards and were released to the reserve of the Armed Forces can be called up again to the State Border Guard Service. Such citizens need to arrive at the territorial center of recruitment and social support (military comats) or directly to the military unit of the State Border Guard Service, where they will later undergo military service.
At the first stage, mobilized persons who did not undergo military service are sent for appropriate professional training to training centers.
The category of conscripts who are not subject to conscription during mobilization is defined in Art. 23 of the Law of Ukraine “On mobilization training and mobilization”.
Regarding admission to military service under a contract to the State Border Guard Service, we note that this procedure has not changed. All those wishing to join the ranks of defenders should contact the staffing units of the State Border Guard Service, information about which can be obtained at the link. Please note that at present, the staffing units of the State Border Guard Service operate only in the territories controlled by Ukraine.
Among the main conditions for admission to military service under the contract are: citizenship of Ukraine; age in a special period from 18 to 60 years (provided that the time remaining for candidates before reaching the maximum age of military service is not less than the established term of the military service contract in calendar calculation); higher, professional and technical, complete basic or basic general secondary education; fitness for military service due to health reasons; lack of criminal record.
Before enlistment for military service under a contract, citizens undergo a mandatory medical examination
Recall that in March of this year the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine increased the total number of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, which currently amounts to 60,000 people, including 52,000 servicemen.
