Service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs use the acquired knowledge in training on the ethics of interaction with people with disabilities
Only recently, the administrators of the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kiev attended the training “Driving without barriers: ethics of interaction with people with disabilities”, and already had the opportunity to make sure of the benefits of the acquired skills.
So the other day, to pass a theoretical exam, Lyudmila Piskunova, one of the first students of the flagship project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Driving schools for people with disabilities”, visited one of the service centers.
Despite the injury received 15 years ago in an accident, Lyudmila successfully completed the first stage of training. Smiled and happy, I shared my impressions of the visit:
“I didn't feel any discomfort. She moved around the room by herself, without any extra help. The theory was compiled in a specially designated place, by the way, I found it immediately and without problems. To be honest, I was worried, but not because of the inconvenience, but because of the exam. Administrators are friendly. In general, the impressions are excellent. So keep it up!”.
“The knowledge gained during the training is invaluable. As an administrator, I understand that in the future, people with disabilities, due to military aggression, will increase among our clients. The preparation has given me a clear understanding of how to communicate and behave, what terms and expressions to use and which not. The discovery for me was the numerous rehabilitation aids and car settings, which greatly facilitate life, provide the opportunity to move freely. It was especially useful to learn techniques for helping people with disabilities and methods of moving them. Now I will definitely not be confused if I need help when moving a person with a disability from a wheel chair to a car for passing a practical exam or vice versa,” commented the administrator Serhiy.
Recall that on October 30 in the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 8041 m. The training “Driving without barriers: ethics of interaction with people with disabilities” was held in Kyiv on the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
28 instructors and examiners from Dnipro, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Lviv and Odessa have already been trained. Experts spoke about ethical communication and best practices for supporting and assisting learners of inclusive driving schools. The purpose of the event was to teach instructors of inclusive driving schools how to interact with people with disabilities.
