Shot and threw the body into the well: the occupier from Buryatia was announced on suspicion of murder of a peaceful resident of Kyiv region
Investigators of the National Police in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea established that in March 2022, during the occupation of the Kiev region, Russian servicemen shot a 49-year-old man who was delivering food and other humanitarian aid from a local church to neighbors in the village.
The man had no weapons, but at least 21 shots from an automatic firearm were fired at his Peugeot 308 civilian car while driving past a Russian checkpoint.
According to the conclusion of the forensic examination, the victim received a bullet wound to the left shoulder joint and a shrapnel wound to the right knee joint with multiple fracture, but remained alive.
The occupiers forcibly removed him from the car and tried to interrogate him, but due to his injuries, the man was unable to answer their questions. Without receiving answers from the victim, the occupiers shot him and threw his body into a sewage well on the side of the 37-km Kyiv-Zhytomyr highway near the village. The victim's body was found almost half a year later during a planned sewer survey by the local municipal service.
Thanks to the testimony of the deceased's daughter and the Buchan fighters of the Russian Armed Forces, who conducted photo and video recordings of the occupiers' actions during the occupation, the investigators of the National Police managed to establish the identity of the suspect - a 27-year-old serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces, senior gunner of 2 self-propelled howitzers artillery platoon of the 5th separate tank brigade of the military unit No. 46108 with the place of deployment of the city. Under the procedural direction of the Office of the Attorney General, he was notified in absentia of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
