Shot by Russia: Lviv resident Pavel Mityuk was ambushed by Russians near Izyum, which became fatal for him
24-year-old red-haired Pavlo Mytiuk from a large family was the eldest son, was fond of sports, went to church in Lviv, and in 2019 he got married. The guy began to serve in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine even before the full-scale invasion. He was part of the canine group, but he constantly dreamed of becoming a special officer.
On the morning of February 24, 2022, Paul, upon learning of the beginning of the war, gathered his things and said goodbye to his wife and 9-month-old son.
“He said it was not educational anxiety. Therefore, I collected things, I helped my husband load them into the car and he went to work,” recalls his wife Darina.
After that, the young family saw each other once, because Paul was constantly on assignment. From her husband's brothers, Daria knew that her Pavel was in the Kiev region during the de-occupation, and later in the Kharkiv region.
The guy constantly wanted to become a special agent. To do this, he constantly read literature, trained, studied specifics and did everything to get to the best. On May 12, 2022, being near Izyum in Kharkiv region, Pavel as part of a sniper group went on a combat mission.
“We knew where the equipment of the Russians was located and were given the task - to eliminate them. Paul also went with us, he was sitting on top of the pickup. We passed the checkpoint, and then in an instant we heard gunshots. It turned out that it was an ambush, and the soldiers in Ukrainian uniforms were dressed as Russians,” recalls Commander Pavla.
The bullet flew into Paul's head, he died immediately. All the other guys who were with him in the car were injured, but survived.
“All the boys, except Paul, were three hundred. Then we saw his body near a car that was on fire. The Russians took away everything that was from him, and this is ammunition and clothes. Even after the death of a person, they behave cynically. After some time, we managed to retrieve his body,” he told the brothers.
The last time Paul's relatives heard was on Mother's Day, which was on the eve of his death. He has parents, six brothers and sisters, as well as a wife with a small son Yaroslav.
