The work of the National Migration Network of Ukraine has started
The first working meeting of the National Migration Network of Ukraine (NMM) within the framework of the European Migration Network (EMM) took place. Representatives of state authorities of Ukraine responsible for migration issues, as well as representative offices of leading international organizations in Ukraine (International Organization for Migration and Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) were invited to the event.
The participants of the meeting got acquainted with the activities and main tasks of the European Migration Network. We discussed the directions of further cooperation and agreed to make every effort to properly represent Ukraine in the work of the EMM.
“Cooperation of participants within the framework of the National Migration Network will certainly contribute to the further European integration of our country in the migration sphere, as well as the implementation of the best practices of European countries in managing migration processes,” said Natalia Naumenko, Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine.
DMS joined the EMM as an observer at the beginning of August this year thanks to the signing of Administrative Agreements on establishing cooperation between the State Migration Service of Ukraine and the European Commission in the European Migration Network.
Cooperation of the Ukrainian side with the EMM will take place through the National Contact Point established in the central apparatus of the SMS.
For reference: The European Migration Network was established on May 14, 2008. Its main objective is to provide objective, reliable and comparable information on migration and asylum to the institutions of the European Union.
