Before the full-scale invasion, the national guard Andrei pseudonymously Kinder worked abroad for several years. Returning home, he got a job at one of the industrial enterprises of the city, and on February 24 he was in the military registration office with the already collected things.

The man was born and raised in Kryvyi Rih, served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and continued his career in the ranks of the State Traffic Inspectorate, where he served more than 10 years.

Since childhood, Andrei has been involved in sports and has the title of candidate of masters of sports in swimming. With the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in 2014, he was on rotations in eastern Ukraine, so he already knew what combat actions were.

On February 26, 2022, Kinder was already in the rifle battalion of the Kryvyi Rih Brigade of the National Guard. Before the rotation to Donetsk region, the military together with his brothers underwent severalweek training.

“I would like to express my special thanks to our instructors, who were engaged in training personnel from the very beginning. These are real “Rangers”. All the knowledge they gave us saved our lives,” Andriy notes.

The military says that at the end of April 2022, he and his brothers came to Novomykhailivka, in the Donetsk region. However, what was there was is only destruction brought by the Russians:

“The constant whistling of shells overhead, the burning houses of the local population, the smashed kindergarten and the playground on which children played not so long ago... Our line of defense was deployed several tens of meters and we held it together with the fighters of the Armed Forces. During the day, they could count up to 300 “arrivals” from different types of weapons. As we moved between positions, traces of enemy shells were at almost every step.”

During one of the regular shelling, the guard received a shrapnel wound. After he was given medical assistance, the man returned to his position.

“The experience gained in Novomykhailivka helped a lot during the offensive operations in the Kherson region — we knew the tactics, knew how to use weapons and were ready for any situation,” says Kinder.

The unit, in which the guard is serving, took part in the storming of such settlements as Dudchany and Milove, in which Russian troops equipped their command posts and warehouses. Andrey's co-servicemen consider Dudchan's assault extremely audacious — the guards entered the village when the enemy did not expect it and, frightened, simply fled.

“I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for staying away. This is our land, our families live here and we must protect them,” the military said.
