Families of fallen border guards presented with awards
The families of the fallen defenders of the Zhytomyr border detachment named after the Sichov Riders were presented with awards. By the Decree of the President of Ukraine for personal courage and dedication in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Senior Sergeant Timur Kiptenko and Sergeant Ivan Shchygol were posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree.
Timur Kiptenko served in the detachment as an inspector-machine-gunner of the commandant department. When the enemy was knocked out of the north of Ukraine, Timur as part of the border unit went to Luhansk region to defend his homeland. On May 13 this year around 9 am near the village of Kovalivka, the enemy launched a tank shelling of a platoon stronghold in order to advance and occupy border positions nannies. Timur, along with his brethren, entered into an unequal battle with the superior forces of the enemy and gave a worthy rebuff, preventing the enemy from breaking through our line of defense. The defender, at the cost of his own life, completed a combat mission. He was lying on the battlefield with the death of the Hero. The award of the deceased border guard was received by his wife, Zhanna Yurievna.
Ivan Viktorovich Shchigel was called to mobilize on the first day of a full-scale war. As part of the Donetsk border detachment, he defended Ukraine in the hottest spots. The enemy stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, firing artillery and mortars of various calibers. Ivan responded boldly and decisively to all challenges. While in firing positions, he professionally coordinated the actions of subordinate personnel. Due to this, the defenders worked qualitatively on the targets, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy. On March 18, 2023, at 09:50 the enemy carried out an artillery shelling of the positions of the mortar stronghold, which included Ivan. It was the unit that provided fire support to our soldiers, who heroically defended the city of Bakhmut. As a result of the shelling during the execution of a combat mission, the Hero died receiving wounds incompatible with life.
The defender's award was received by father Viktor Vyacheslavovich, mother Natalia Yevhenivna, sons Nikita and Kirill, brother and wife.
