The increase in the level of public trust in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is associated, in particular, with the work of law enforcement officers in the de-occupied territories and participation in hostilities. This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs in an interview with UNICEF Ukraine medical expert Ekaterina Bulavinova.

“Women and children suffer the most from crimes such as domestic violence and wartime sexual violence. It is women police officers who successfully work with victims of such latent crimes, build trusting communication. This significantly affects the success of the investigation,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.

She also noted that the level of trust of the civilian population in law enforcement agencies was significantly affected by the full-scale invasion.

“The work of police, rescuers, border guards, national guards has changed dramatically. If earlier they performed clear and understandable functions for them, now the situation has changed. Rescuers work under constant shelling, rescuing people from under the rubble. The police evacuates civilians, detects collaborators, saboteurs. Police officers are among the first to enter the liberated territories and interact with citizens. Police officers are conductors of peace in the de-occupied territory, so people are happy when they see them,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.
