Relatives of dead soldiers of the NGU received state awards in Chernivtsi and Khmelnytskyi
The commanders of the military units of the National Guard in Chernivtsi and Khmelnytsky presented state awards to the parents of the fallen special forces officer, Hero of Ukraine Major Vadim Zelenyuk and the mother of the deceased national guard Viktor Fedorov.
For personal courage and selfless actions in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the Military Oath and in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated July 22, 2022 No. 524/2022, Major Zelenyuk Vadim Sergeevich was awarded the Medal “For Military Service to Ukraine” of a unit of a separate special purpose detachment “Omega” of the Northern Union of the National Guard of Ukraine.
From the first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vadim Zelenyuk participated in the battles for Kyiv region and Donbas.
One example of Vadim's courage is the destruction of more than four units of armored vehicles and infantry in one of the settlements on the Izyum direction.
Hero died on August 22, 2022, while repelling another enemy offensive on the outskirts of Avdiyivka, while personally destroying two units of enemy equipment and infantry.
In Chernivtsi, the mother of the soldier Viktor Fedorov received the Order “For Courage” of the third degree (Presidential Decree 312/2022 of May 5, 2022) from the hands of the commander of the military unit. Her son was sick in April during fierce fighting in Luhansk region.
The brothers say that there was a hell in Rubezhny, the city was partially captured by the invaders, street battles with the Russian occupiers constantly continued, who intensively shelled the cities and did not stop the attacks. During one of the artillery shelling of Ukrainian positions, Viktor received wounds incompatible with life.
