On September 12, 2022, during the Kharkiv offensive operation, the fighters of the National Guard, the Armed Forces and the territorial defense liberated the Svyatogorsk community of Donetsk region. Then the Ukrainian defense forces entered the city of Svyatogorsk.

Weeks earlier, in early August 2022, the State Flag of Ukraine was raised above the highest point of Svyatogorsk. It was raised by the fighters of the General Kulchitsky Battalion together with the border guards. Even then, the Ukrainian defenders let the invaders know that Svyatogorsk is Ukraine.

During the occupation, Russian troops practically wiped the city from the face of the earth. The Svyatogorsk community consists of 13 settlements. Today, more than a thousand people live here.

Since the first days of de-occupation, law enforcement officers in cooperation with representatives of local authorities have been dealing with humanitarian issues. Police and the State Emergency Service deport roads, houses, cemeteries, dismantle rubble. Exhumation from solitary spontaneous burials is still ongoing.

Despite the fact that the community was liberated from the invaders, it is still dangerous to stay in Svyatogorsk and the surrounding settlements. After all, in the liberated territories there are still many unexploded mines, shells and stretchers. In addition, the enemy does not stop attacking. Law enforcement officials are urging residents to evacuate to safer areas.
