Rescuers together with educators presented the Alphabet of Safety for Blind Children
Recently, a presentation of the Alphabet of Safety for children with visual impairments took place in “Zaporizhzhya special boarding school “Orientyr”. This manual was developed on the initiative of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhya region together with the speech therapists of the educational institution with the support of the Department of Education and Science of the ZOVA.
The book contains basic security rules in both plain and braille. In addition, it is illustrated with pictures that are also adapted to the needs of children with visual impairments.
“Being an innovator means generating non-standard ideas and putting them into practice. That is why, together with the teachers of “Landmark”, we were able to create and conclude the Safety Alphabet, written in Braille, so that children with visual impairments have the opportunity to learn the basics of life safety, to be armed with knowledge that will be a strong foundation of protection throughout their lives,” the press said. Thanks to the long-term cooperation of rescuers and teachers of the “Orientir” institution, it was possible to implement a number of safety measures for education seekers with visual impairments. The purpose of which was to create equal opportunities and free access in aspects of safety for children with disabilities.
Also, rescuers together with juvenile police officers conducted a series of interactive lessons for pupils of the educational institution in the UNICEF Ukraine Mobile Classroom.
