Rescuers join charity 21-kilometer half marathon in support of Ukrainian defenders
Yesterday, October 29, the “World's Longest Marathon” took place with more than 10,000 participants from all over the world. The event aims to support and remind the whole world of the irrepressible strength of the Ukrainian spirit and to support those who have been defending the freedom of Ukraine since 2014.
Each participant carried not only the start number, but also facts about the war in Ukraine and the names of those to whom he dedicates his race. Instead of registration fees, people made donations to support Ukrainian servicemen.
Rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine also took part in the half marathon. Rescuer from Volyn — Chief Master Sergeant of the Civil Protection Service, commander of Department 6 of the State Fire and Rescue Department of the city. Kivertsi Sergey Borkov ran the distance in combat clothing and with an apparatus in compressed air. The total weight of the equipment is about 25 kg.
Also, together with Sergey Borkov, the half marathon was overcome by rescue athlete Oksana Chekhmestrenko with Andriy Grechani and Ruslan Butko. With the Do Not Stop Division, they ran 21 kilometers.
