A single register of weapons is one of the control elements in the firearms circulation system. Thanks to the work of the registry, the processes of formation, issuance and accounting of permits for weapons will be automated, and appropriate electronic services for citizens and business entities will be created. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Bondarenko on the air of the UAtogether tele-marathon.
“One of the main tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to ensure the formation of state policy in certain areas, in particular in the sphere of public security. Public safety is the feeling of a person, they either feel safe or not. As a factor in the formation of such a sense of security, there is a proper system of control over potentially dangerous areas of social activity, for example, such as the circulation of weapons. The state controls potentially dangerous areas, sets restrictions, requirements. This makes it possible to comprehensively build an approach so that people feel safe, understand the requirements, understand that someone controls their compliance and everything happens clearly, according to the rules. Therefore, we consider this register of weapons as one of the tools, first of all, control in building a clear system of circulation of firearms and related processes,” said Igor Bondarenko.
In addition, the Unified Register of Weapons will allow to automate the processes of formation, issuance and registration of permits for weapons. Appropriate electronic services for citizens and business entities will also be created.
“Some of the processes that are now carried out in analog, paper, form, we automate. This can be done remotely, electronically, subject to proper identification and this will apply to both citizens and business entities. We will simplify it for a person - it will be clearer, faster, they will be able to update, view the data. This is also about services. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is now working to ensure that weapons permits are also available in Action. So that a person can present them for verification so that the check takes place automatically, which also solves the problem of fake documents,” added Igor Bondarenko.
As previously reported, the Unified Register of Weapons can fully operate at the end of October.
