This was stated today, July 19, during a briefing in Ukrinform, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Alyona Matveeva. She said that within the framework of the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine “Safe educational environment in conditions of war” before the start of the school year, representatives of the State Emergency Service and the police will check the availability and readiness of bomb shelters in educational institutions, and together with educators will carry out a number of preventive measures.

As Alyona Matveeva noted, the decision on the beginning and form of education in educational institutions will be made separately in each region or even each educational institution. In this regard, a permanent study of the situation continues on the ground and, depending on the level of security, a decision on distance or face-to-face training will be made. At the same time, on the eve of the school year, educational institutions will check for the presence of bomb shelters.

“The project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Safe educational environment in conditions of war” provides that the services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will visit all educational institutions. We consider this as a component of teaching our children from the point of view of their knowledge of the basic requirements of life safety in conditions of martial law. So the necessary changes will be made to the content of the curricula for grades 6—11. In particular, a separate block will be added to the subject “Protection of Ukraine”, which will relate to anti-mining activities,” the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Also, during the implementation of the project, it is planned to develop a “Safety Alphabet for a Secondary School Student” and a corresponding mobile application so that each child can find answers to questions — how to behave in various dangerous situations.

“In addition, within the framework of the project, it is planned to place information stands in each school, which will outline in a bright and accessible form the basic rules of behavior of children in conditions of martial law. This project will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science,” Alyona Matveeva stressed.
