“Slaves are not allowed into Paradise”: the guard told about the liberation of Sorokovka
NGU serviceman Vladimir spoke about his participation in the battles for Sorokivka in Kharkiv region.
National Guardsman Vladimir with the nickname Jeweler mobilized to the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine on the first day of a full-scale invasion. The man is serving as a driver, but for almost two months he has been moving on crutches, a soldier was wounded in the village of Sorokivka, Kharkiv region. During the execution of a combat task, Vladimir's car ran into an anti-tank mine.
“It happened on April 29 in the afternoon. Between Vilkhivka and Sorokivka, we drove to the destination with our comrades from the Armed Forces, it was necessary to strengthen our positions — we carried AGS and ammunition. An anti-tank mine was hidden in the asphalt on the road, it was not visible at all, it was well disguised. At that time, we had already cleared Sorokivka, and so that the Russian infantry did not pass, we decided to strengthen the position of the AGS, but, unfortunately, we were a little unlucky. We drove, then it got dark in my eyes, then I don't remember, the only thing I heard, the guys said “minus”, I raised my hand and they already started to save me,” Volodymyr recalls.
As a result of the explosion, the pickup truck, in which the military was traveling, flipped 8 meters. The boys who were in the body received minor injuries and contusions. Vladimir suffered the most because he was in the cabin. The guard received shrapnel wounds and almost lost an eye. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation — with a contusion and rupture of the eardrums he was treated in Kiev, after returning to Kharkiv he continues to treat his foot.
“I have fractures with displacement, broken bones, I need another month and a half of treatment, while I walk on crutches, undergo procedures, inject plasma and vitamins. I will not be an athlete, but I will be back in the mood, because there is still a lot of work,” the jeweler shares.
In Sorokovka, the guard recalls, the operation began early in the morning. The task of the National Guard was to mine roads and wait for reinforcements. The operation went according to plan, our troops responded with artillery and tanks, but the enemy resistance was quite strong, many personnel, MT-LBs and tanks of the occupiers were concentrated in the area.
About one of the most difficult moments when we went to Sorokovka on the second day, the guard recalls the following:
“I drove for the first time on fire from a mine, my wheel broke, the guys walked to the positions, and I was left to change the wheel. As I lay on the asphalt I heard an enemy drone circling. And as soon as I started spinning the wheel, the orcs started shooting at me with artillery, I managed to get out and drive the car into the garage, and at the same moment there was an arrival nearby.”
Vladimir transported equipment, delivered food, medicines, helped civilians.
“There were places where it was too dangerous, you had to go fast, because the road was being shot through and the orcs were being pelted with artillery and tanks. At night I had to go without dimensions in complete darkness, I drove so as not to impersonate myself — it was very difficult. Once I got lost and almost arrived at the orcs, when I realized that the terrain was alien, I turned around, found my way and left for mine. It took about 3-4 days to clean Sorokivka. Alkhovka was badly destroyed, houses were destroyed, a fire broke out in their place, hungry, abandoned animals, there were almost no locals,” the guard shares.
Vladimir also had the task of accompanying the ambulance car. In the afternoon, shelling began, one of the National Guardsmen was wounded in the head, a wound was opened, it was necessary to urgently take him to the hospital.
“We just loaded the wounded into an ambulance - the shelling started again, most likely their UAV was working, the explosions were fifty meters from us, but because of the fact that there are buildings, no one was hurt. When we left, the enemy started deliberately shelling the ambulance and our car, the arrivals were 100-200 meters, on one side of the road and on the other. We left. The guy was taken out. Delivered and operated on time. I don't even know his name, but I'm glad he's alive.”
By specialty, Vladimir is a jeweler, but in 2014 he volunteered for the State Border Guard Service. Until 2015, he performed tasks in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation. As he himself says, already there he saw the insidiousness of the Russians, when they drove to zero and fired mortars on “gazelles” into Luhansk region.
“On February 24, when the war began, I evacuated my fourteen-year-old son and went to the military enlistment office. I really want peace, when you have two sons and you want to protect them, you will fight to the end. I don't want my boys to see the consequences of the war, much less participate in it. I want the war to end as soon as possible and I believe that my participation in it can accelerate it,” Volodymyr shares.
“I know how insidious the enemy is, I have no faith in the Russians since 2014. We will win, a little, of course, because there are a lot of them, it will be difficult, but victory will be for us — it is only a matter of time, - Vladimir believes, and adds. “We must certainly fight for freedom, because Slaves are not allowed to go to Paradise.”
At the moment, the guard wants to return to his comrades in combat: to bring medicines and help civilians - such mundane acts to go forward to Victory.
