Today, on January 15, Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and Martin Jäger, the Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany, took part in a ceremony to hand over about 100 vehicles to the National Police of Ukraine and National Guard of Ukraine. The vehicles will be used to maintain public order and protect the critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the event, Ihor Klymenko expressed his gratitude to the German partners for their continued support of Ukraine and stressed that the assistance package would strengthen the NPU and NGU units and help protect citizens from crime and protect critical infrastructure.

“The invaluable assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany will allow us to continue to perform our core functions of protecting our citizens from crime at a high level and will enable us to respond quickly to the challenges we face every day. Unfortunately, due to the war, these challenges are increasing, but thanks to you, this response will be faster and more professional”, - the Minister of Internal Affairs said, addressing the partners.

In his turn, Martin Jäger, the Ambassador of Germany, noted that he was honoured to be in Ukraine and personally hand over the assistance, which will be sent to the National Guard of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine.

“Ukraine continues its heroic struggle against the russian aggression - and each of you plays an important role in this process. Without the daily work of the National Guard and the National Police, security in Ukraine cannot be guaranteed. For me as the Ambassador and for the entire German Government, cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is an important aspect of our partnership, and the vehicles donated are only part of the support we provide to the Ministry. Our fruitful cooperation will continue", - said Martin Jäger, handing over the certificate for the vehicles to Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

At the conclusion of the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ambassador of Germany inspected the transferred vehicles.

“We are sincerely grateful to our partners from Germany for the vehicles, which will strengthen the capabilities of the National Police of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine. Today we have to give every citizen a sense of security and support, and this assistance is an important step in this direction”, - added Ihor Klymenko.

In total, in 2024, apart from 100 vehicles, the public order units of the National Police of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine received computer equipment and protective gear from the German Government.
