In Cherkasy region, two people became victims of fraudsters, in Rivne region a woman was found for almost 36 thousand hryvnias. A “pseudo-military” kidnapped a volunteer in the Kiev region.

Residents of the Cherkasy region were called by an unknown person and introduced himself as a doctor. He said that her nephew got into an accident and needed a certain amount of money for treatment. The distraught woman agreed to provide the specified amount. Subsequently, an unknown man visited her. She gave him $2,000. Only then did the victim call her nephew and find out that he was doing well.

And in Rivne region the other day scammers searched for a woman for almost 36 thousand hryvnias. The victim of scammers found a message about the sale of a motorcycle on one of the classifieds sites. While discussing the details with the seller over the phone, I planned to pay for the goods after delivery. However, the “seller” convinced not to overpay and transfer the entire amount at once. In confirmation of his words, the fraudster sent the victim photos and videos of the packaging of the goods allegedly from the branch of the logistics company. The woman believed and transferred money for a motorcycle in the amount of 35,600.

For several days, the “parcel” never arrived at the customer, so the woman turned to law enforcement.

In addition, a 49-year-old resident of Cherkasy region turned to law enforcement after an online purchase. On one of the Internet sites I found an advertisement for the sale of a car at a very favorable price. I contacted the seller and agreed to buy it.

The fraudster insisted on recalculating the amount for the car. The man gave 115 thousand hryvnias to the seller. After that, the scammer stopped answering phone calls.

Meanwhile, in Kyiv region, investigators sent to court an indictment against a fraudster who searched for a volunteer and stole a military car. A man posing as a soldier met a volunteer and offered her to buy tactical armored helmets at a bargain price. The woman agreed and transferred him 37,000 hryvnias for 7 helmets.

In addition, the defendant broke into the territory of one of the service stations in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kiev and stole a car. The car belonged to a charitable foundation and was awaiting repair with subsequent sending to the front by the military Armed Forces.

Investigators announced to the defendant the suspicion of committing the crimes provided for in Part 1 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - fraud and part 3 of Article 289 - illegal possession of a vehicle. At the moment, they have collected the evidence base of the criminal actions of the defendant and sent an indictment to the court for consideration of the case on the merits. The attacker faces up to 12 years in prison.

Law enforcement officers once again appeal to citizens with a request to be careful, not to make hasty decisions. This is what will help save your funds.

How not to become a victim of scammers when shopping online:

● buy and pay only on proven resources,

● give preference to payment after receiving the goods,

● in case of purchase on the classifieds site, discuss the details of the transaction only in the chat of this platform - do not go to other messengers, where the seller offers to go.

● Do not tell anyone your bank card details.

● check the websites of online stores before paying for the goods on the service of the Cyberpolice "STOP FRAUD" or on the service of the Association “EMA” CheckMyLink.

How to Resist Phone Scammers:

● Familiarize your parents, grandparents with this common scheme.

● Emphasize that if a stranger calls and reports that loved ones are in distress and immediately need money, then you need not to succumb to emotions, and after such a call, contact someone who allegedly “needs immediate help” as soon as possible.

How not to get hooked on scammers when buying goods:

● If the price of the product is significantly less than the prices of other similar offers in the area, it is likely that the ad is placed by a fraudster and this object does not exist.

● Often scammers ask to make a deposit by transferring money to their personal card or replenishing their mobile.

● When viewing an ad, it will not be superfluous to pay attention to the date of its creation and the date of registration of the account. Scammers are constantly creating new ads with new phones. This is because their ads are blocked and blacklisted.

If you are still a victim of scammers - immediately report this fact to the police by phone “102".
